You can say so much with shoes. A flash of color, a hit of texture—such small flourishes give me a completely different stride.

I’m a born and raised New Yorker and the daughter of Jamaican immigrants. Those qualities have always influenced my aesthetic, and they now guide NAYLA’s vivid color palette. I love that on any given day walking down the street I see every color, culture, and type of person wearing every color and type of thing you can and can’t possibly imagine. I love the sun and the way it burnishes my skin a deeper, darker, more wonderfully complex brown in summer. I love the faded shades of blue, hibiscus, and teal I spot everywhere when I visit Negril. I love that brilliant color is a mark of sophistication over there, and that wearing it or being around it wherever I am in the world always makes me feel keenly alive.

Fish leather is this thing of beauty salvaged from the sea. I love running my fingers along its softly scaled ridges. Shoutout to NAYLA founder Nayla Atallah Cross for dreaming up such a rare, special, sustainable concept.

My hope, if you decide on a pair of NAYLAS, is that they make you feel vibrant. That color does something to your mood when you wear it on your feet. That you find your shoes comfy enough to dash around in, and chic enough to be your statement piece. And that your NAYLAS make your getup—and this one incredible life—feel a little more fun.

Love,
Mega

I founded NAYLA in 2020 with the vision of creating sandals that felt both effortless and intentional. I believed from the start that the future of fashion was sustainable, and that true luxury comes from pieces that are made to last, designed with care, responsibility, and purpose. By deconstructing the sandal and rethinking each component, I set out to reimagine it in a way that honors both craft and the planet.

I grew up in New York, where style and individuality are everywhere, and that energy shaped the way I see design. My career in product development taught me how to turn ideas into lasting products, lessons that shaped the way I built NAYLA.

From the beginning, my vision for NAYLA was to create sandals where every detail had purpose, beautiful but also responsible, refined but always sustainable. That meant rethinking materials from the ground up: our signature fish leather, with its rare texture and refined beauty, and wild rubber soles tapped by hand from rubber trees in the Amazon rainforest. Each pair is designed to be versatile, because versatility is its own form of sustainability, and extra comfortable for women on the go. Whether it is heading to work, running to school pick-up, or traveling with ease and style, these sandals are made to move with you. Every element was chosen with intention to prove that intention creates beauty and sustainability defines true luxury.

NAYLA has grown with me through some of the most transformative years of my life. My hope is that when you wear these sandals, you feel confident, comfortable, and effortlessly stylish, footwear that truly supports the rhythm of your life.
